Online Poker Databases
An online poker database allows people to view the results of tournaments / sngs/ cash games for players on online poker tournaments, or live poker events. The databases will show the buy-in, where the player placed, and any prize won (if any). Other statistics are usually available (for online players) such as ROI, in the money %, average field size and average buy-in, allowing one to gauge the skill level and bankroll of their opponents.
Finding the information is as simple as entering a players real-name (in the case of live results databases), or a players’ poker-site screen-name.
Can I stop these sites showing my statistics
Most of the poker tracking sites will allow you to opt out from having your information shown. These include OPR and Sharkscope.
Why would players not opt out?
Many players choose not to opt out due to the fact that they may have a massive ROI, and they want people to know that they are skilled and well ‘rolled. Having a large ROI over a large sample is also good from a players’ point of view as sponsors will check out the databases and often offer lucrative deals to the best players.
